KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Daniel Hernandez Jr., 90, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Daniel was born in Parsons on Sept. 12, 1931, to Daniel Hernandez Sr. and Francisca Yanez. After graduating high school, Daniel attended Labette Community College before enlisting in the United States Army. After his honorable service, Daniel completed his formal education at Rockhurst University, receiving an associate of degree in arts. 

Daniel worked for many years as an associate engineer for AT&T. As a talented designer, he would often sketch home building designs and also considered himself a DIY man. He was a home builder and helped his father build two homes in his hometown of Parsons. He also built two homes for himself. He was a man of the Catholic faith and most recently was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton, Missouri. Daniel was also known for his love and talent in golfing. Daniel also enjoyed playing tennis, bowling and impromptu weekend road trips to Key West, Florida, to go scuba diving, returning to work on Monday. Above all, Daniel valued his family more than anything.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Delia Hernandez; three brothers, Hector, Federico and Francisco Hernandez; and three sisters, Ramona Yglesias, Elvita Orozco and Connie Crutcher. 

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Sr. and Francisca Hernandez; a brother, Edward Hernandez; a sister, Rebeca Jaramillo; two infant brothers, Guadalupe Hernandez and Jaime Hernandez; and a brother, Jaime Hernandez.

A celebration of life service will be at a later date. The Cullen Funeral Home of Raymore, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
