Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:
- Over 70 bullets were fired and three people were injured in a shootout in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood Thursday night. The shootout occurred around 10:00 p.m. near Arrott and Griscom streets when two groups of people started firing at each other. Police are still investigating what caused the mass shootout. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
- Today, Saturday, Jul. 2, participating Philadelphia restaurants will donate a percentage of their earnings to the National Network of Abortion Funds. The organization distributes donations and resources to more than 90 existing grassroots abortion funds. Participating restaurants include Middle Child and Middle Child Clubhouse, Sanchos Pistolas, and Laser Wold. Visit Eater Philly to see the full list. (Eater Philly)
- Construction is ramping up at Franklin Square, as crews begin to work on reopening the PATCO station. Crews are currently fixing a water line underground near Franklin Square Park, which is across Race Street between 6th and 7th Streets. Once the water line is finished, tentatively in early August, they will begin work on the PATCO station, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024. (WHYY)
