Talking Houses with Curious Practice: Lambton House

In this next installment in the Talking Houses series, studio directors Greg Lee and Warren Haasnoot share how at Lambton House, the playful use of spatial volume assists in the functionality of a home and its relationship to the outdoors.

This home is situated at a five-way intersection in Newcastle and is as much a public gesture to its leafy neighbourhood as it is a light-filled retreat for the family. Curious Practice’s critical thinking on material selection, consideration of spatial volumes and connection to landscape has created a compact family home with beauty, flexibility and longevity.

The Talking Houses video series reflects the vibrant milieu of Australian residential design and reveals the unique character of each practice. Winners of categories in the 2021 Houses Awards were invited to share the stories, ideas and experience of living in each of their award-winning homes.

Talking Houses is presented by Houses magazine and supported by Living Edge.
