Plans progressing for new Children’s Treatment Centre build

Chatham-Kent residents will start to see activity at the site of the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent’s future building on McNaughton Ave. West, Chatham.

The Centre is working on Stage One planning activities.

Due diligence work, including soil studies, drainage, and best building orientation on site is underway to guide future building designs.

A new Ontario Builds sign has been installed, recognizing provincial support to plan a new state of the art Centre that will meet the needs of children and families across Chatham-Kent.

Client Ambassador, Ashley Gialelem, states that she is “very excited to see plans unfold, and the vision become reality.”

Foundation Chair, Mike Grail, notes “the new sign is greatly appreciated to help signal progress to the capital campaign’s donors. The donor support in partnership with Ministry funding has made a great positive impact on realizing the provincial funding support.”

Extensive teamwork is underway between Ontario’s Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and the Centre to ensure the new facility is built to effectively and efficiently deliver services to children and families.

“It is exciting to reach yet another milestone in building this important project that will support modern, accessible, and centralized services for children with special needs,” said Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services, in a media release.

“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, I am proud that our government is delivering on our commitment to invest in infrastructure that will provide the support that children and families in Chatham-Kent need and deserve.”

Centre officials say this investment is vital to ensure our community continues to have an accessible space that enables clients and families to enjoy a high quality of life supported by the services and programs available to them.
