MONROE, CT — Robert, “Bob,” Godfrey was a caring father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He left this world after 95 years of love, laughter, fun, and good fortune following a short battle with cancer. He spent his last few weeks surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives with the compassion and humor he was known for.

Born in Yonkers, NY, to James and Anna Godfrey on June 28, 1927, he married his one true love, Catherine Janet Foley on September 24, 1949, and built a wonderful life with their four children, Kathy, Susan, David, and Robert (deceased). While he lost his beautiful wife in 1997, he continued to honor her by living his life to the fullest.

Bob was a true patriot, serving in both the US Army and Coast Guard, before settling into a successful global sales career. Later, as the small business owner of Taylor Rental in Monroe, Bob served Fairfield County families and businesses with all of their building, remodeling, and partying needs for 35 years.

Upon his retirement, Bob’s hobbies included ensuring his son-in-law, Greg, kept his rental legacy alive, keeping up with the lives and careers of his two granddaughters, Kaitlin and Erin, and causing as much trouble as possible at Roberto’s Restaurant every Friday night.

Bob will be honored in a small celebration of life on Sunday, August 21 at Monroe Social from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating to one of two organizations very special to his granddaughters, who were the lights of his life
