Neal Stephens Obituary (1949 – 2022)


Neal Henry Stephens, 73, passed away after a long illness, on December 8, 2022 at his home in Millersport. He Is survived by his wife Tamarra, son, Natalio, Parker, daughters, Jessica (Justin) Smitly, Amanda (Richard Critchfield) Stephens, brothers Lee (Joan) Stephens, and Ora (Lori) Stephens, sisters Marie Brumfield, and Vickie Payne; stepdaughters Beth (Stacy) Brunson; grandchildren Hayley Critchfield, Richard Critchfield, Jr., Zachary (Savannah Chester) Critchfield, Ryan Critchfield, Hannah Critchfield, Xander Critchfield, Breanna Smitley, Baydin Smitly, Cierra Price, Skylar Price, Shane Brunson, and great grandchildren Aria Price and Vaya Critchfield, and many other beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, extended and bonus family members. He is predeceased by his parents Ora (Freda) Stephens, and Mary (Harold) Davis; brothers George Stephens and Donald Stephens, nephew Tim Stephens, and granddaughter Brittany Brunson. Neal was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and husband. He loved spending time with his family.
Neal was a dedicated and active Millersport Lion for 30 years. He was a life member, Melvin Jones Fellow, and he served in many club positions, including membership chair and president. Neal was a fixture at the Millersport Sweetcorn Festival, serving as Vice Chairman of Facilities since 2002, and could be seen zipping around the parking lots in his golf cart and cowboy hat. He was also recognized by the Ohio Festival and Events Association being inducted into the OFEA Legion of Honor. Neal was very proud of his Army service and has been a member of the VFW post #3761 for 54 years. Had a long career in maintenance working for Oakwood Management for 35 years, and had been an entrepreneur, owning small painting and building remodeling businesses. Before his illness, he loved to stay busy either tinkering, fishing, painting birdhouses, kayaking, mushroom hunting, collecting horse and eagle memorabilia, and he loved his Ohio State Buckeyes.
Family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 18th at 3pm, with a celebration of life at 4pm. All activities held at the Millersport Lions Clubhouse, 2905 Chautauqua Blvd., Millersport, OH 43046.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Millersport Lions Club in Neal’s honor. Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home Worthington, Ohio is honored to care for the Stephens Family.
