Marriott International has announced plans for a new-build hotel in Germany’s Bavarian capital of Munich.
The 402-room property will be located in the city’s Westend district, and will operate under the Marriott Hotels and Resorts brand.
No opening date has been confirmed for the development, which will offer almost 5,000 sqm of public space, including a rooftop terrace with views over the city and Bavarian Alps.
Other facilities will include 21 meeting rooms, as well as a 1,000 sqm ballroom with hydraulic lifting platforms “for high-profile product presentations”.
The hotel will also feature the brand’s signature Greatroom lobby concept, where guests can expect “an open layout featuring contemporary décor with spaces to relax, collaborate with colleagues in innovative work facilities or grab a night cap and some delicious gastronomy, all delivered with the welcoming Bavarian hospitality”.
Munich Marriott Hotel City West will join around 100 hotels in Germany across six of the group’s brands.
Marriott operates nearly 20 properties in Munich alone, including Le Méridien Munich, Aloft Munich, The Westin Grand Munich, Moxy Munich Airport and Roomers Munich, part of the group’s Autograph Collection.
Commenting on the news said Satya Anand, President, Marriott International, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said:
“We are eagerly anticipating the debut of the Munich Marriott Hotel City West. This spectacular new-build hotel under the signature flag of Marriott Bonvoy’s 30 hotel brands, underscores our faith in the conference and events industry.
“The hotel’s modern residential design, combined with Marriott Hotels’ mission to help locals and travellers alike be inspired and stimulate new ideas, will no doubt make this hotel the prime place to meet in Munich.”
