Handwerk Art and Design is a full-service interior design firm focusing primarily on high end residential design. The studio also takes on small scale architectural projects, hospitality, graphics, art consulting, and art making. Handwerk’s studio is small and heavily concept-driven, and always looking to be innovative in the industry.
We are looking for a freelance intermediate level designer who can take on projects fairly independently, and who has a keen sense of design and creative ideas. This person would also take on some project management responsibilities and interface with both builders and clients. The role would be up to 20 hours per week, with potential to grow into more.
Our ideal designer has experience generating conceptual ideas, sourcing furniture and materials, writing specifications and producing drawings. This person would work with the rest of our team to help execute beautiful, thoughtful projects.
Responsibilities:
– Help manage 3-4 small to medium design projects
– Source concept imagery and put together creative design packages
– Create rendered elevations and models
– Source furniture, lighting, materials, finishes etc
– Source art and help conceptualize custom art
– Documentation: specification writing and detailed drawings
– Review shop drawings
– Engage in daily communication with builders, vendors, clients
Qualifications:
– Bachelor degree in architecture or design
– Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in relevant design firm
– Experience sourcing and documenting FFE
– Proficient in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, Rhino
– Construction administration experience preferred
– Available to start ASAP
– Legally eligible to work in the United States
– Ideally located in NYC, but not a must
– Must be willing to work remotely
