Don Joseph Antczak of Cottonwood Heights, Utah passed away peacefully on his 89th birthday 05 April 2022 at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Riverton, Utah. Don was born 05 April 1933 to Joseph Antczak and Roberta Myrtie Trane in West Jordan, Utah. His childhood years were spent in Butlerville, now known as Cottonwood Heights. Throughout his school career he was involved in music programs, singing and playing trumpet and several athletic teams. After graduation from Jordan High School in 1952, he married his high school sweetheart Maryellen Sjoblom, of Draper, Utah 10 June 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

While working with JCPenny in Salt Lake, Don was promoted to assistant manager of the St Anthony, ID store, which launched his career into Men’s Fashion. A upon leaving Idaho and many friendships that have lasted a lifetime, Don accepted a position as asst. manager of Bud’s Duds in the Cottonwood Mall. He served as the President of the Cottonwood Mall Association. In 1971 he opened his own men’s clothing store, “Anzak’s Fashion Cove” with stores in the Fashion Place Mall and the Orem Mall. Through several challenges, Don enjoyed this time until the store’s closing in 1980. He then began a career in Real Estate Development and continued his fashion career with ZCMI as their Fine Men’s Clothing buyer until ZCMI was sold.

Seeing the need for recreational facilities in the “Butler” area, Don was part of the group that formed the Cottonwood “Spa” which was comprised of a swimming pool, sports fields, and several community parks including Antczak Park. The “Spa” is now known as the Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Center. After the formation of the Rec Center, Don was elected and served many years on the Rec Center Council and a Councilman for the City of Cottonwood Heights.

Don was very active in his church service and was always willing to step in and help with any project. He served in several positions including as the Bishop of the Butler 2nd ward for almost 10 years. (Currently the Cottonwood Heights 1st Ward) After retirement he remained active in his church service and community activities, including the incorporation of the city Cottonwood Heights. In recent years Don helped to maintain the many parks for the Rec Center and his favorite job, acting as a crossing guard for Bella Vista Elementary School.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Antczak 1971 (63), mother, Roberta Trane 1968 (56), his brother Max John Antczak 2001 (64), sister Esther Louise Antczak 1941 (2), Blain Richard Antczak 2015 (73), and sister Marilyn Ann 2012 (70).

Survived by his Wife, Maryellen Sjoblom Antczak, Sons; Robert Don Antczak (Kathy), Murray, Utah and Brett David Antczak (Christie) Leadville, Colorado and Daughter, Kaelynne Antczak Oliphant (Christian) Draper, Utah. Scott Jensen, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cherylann Jensen Johnson (Max) West Jordan, Utah. Grandchildren: Ashley Holly Antczak Cordell (Charlie), Annesa Olivia Antczak Lindsey (Jeffrey), Katey Thompson, Jessica Thomson, Mollie Cook Thompson, Thomas Thompson (Brittney), and Alexandra Marie Antczak Cuplitt (Dylan), Andrew Frank Antczak, Brett Hyrum Antczak and Mikaela Eden Oliphant, Samantha Kae Oliphant, Ireland Jade Oliphant. The Great-Grandchildren: Mercedes Cordell Jackson (Ernicio), Denali Cordell, Jazmin Cordell, Autumn Cordell, Zola Bella Cordell, Ava Cordell, Dominic Cordell, Nora Cordell & Hazel Cordell, McKinley Lindsey, Leala Lindsey, Braxton Lindsey, Eli Lindsey, Wyatt Cook, Lily Cook, Josie Ottoson, Stockton Ottoson, and Oliver Thompson, and the Great-Great-Grandchildren: Amaya Jackson, Ernicio Jr Jackson, Nova Jackson.

Friends may share stories and their memories with the family during the Visitation on Sunday, April 10th at the Cottonwood Heights 1st Ward Chapel, 2245 E 7075 S Cottonwood Heights, Utah from 6pm until 7:30pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the same location on Monday, April 11th. Visitation will begin at noon with the Funeral Service following at 1:30. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 E 7800 S Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Mortuary Services provided by Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home of South Jordan, Utah. Pallbearers will be Robert Antczak, Brett Antczak, Christian Oliphant, Scott Jensen, Charlie Cordell and Jeffery Lindsey. Honorary Pallbearers: Andrew Antczak, Brett H. Antczak, and Thomas Thompson.

The family would like to acknowledge the overwhelming and heart felt outpouring of support at this tender time. They are grateful for the kind care provided by the Rocky Mountain Care Center Team, Nurses, Physicians and Care Team at IMC, the members of the Cottonwood Heights 1st Ward, as well as the many friends that have stopped by to visit, called or sent well wishes via social media.
