City of Bluefield seeking designs for two buildings

BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Bluefield announced an exciting opportunity this week for local artists and designers. Suggestions are now being accepted for the design of two currently unused buildings within city limits.

The announcement provided a number of suggestions for what might be represented in an ideal design submission.

Provided suggestions refer to the city’s schools – Bluefield State College and Bluefield High School – as well as its community and historic culture – including its designation as the state’s Christmas City – as potential conceptual jumping off points. Aesthetic suggestions such as lemonade and blue chicory were also given.

The first property is a towering structure which can be seen to the right after crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge and following the subsequent road, while the second property, a red building, can be found to the left by an adjacent parking lot upon entering the city on Princeton Avenue, just near Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The city has even committed to supplying all the necessary materials for the completion of the building designs, including ladder, paints, and miscellaneous tools.

Suggestions for the new designs may be submitted by email to City Ambassador Marie Blackwell at mblackwell@bluewv.org. Submissions will be accepted until the close of business, Monday April 18, 2022.
